Middle Age

I reckon Middle Age starts when you get married, Anne and I got married twice – once at a Civil Ceremony in Melbourne and the second time at Church in my home town Paderborn on 8/8/1992 in 39deg heat (early onset of global warming – it was 40 the day after) which is totally unusual for Germany, but I guess quite fitting considering we were living in Australia.

Anne’s late step father Walter, mother Josefa and my late mum Anna and late father Otto.

Fun and games following the official part (I got a 1 meter long Currywurst present from my friends – neither I nor Anne could believe it (for very different reasons)
“Kartoffeln schaelen unter dem Pantoffel” (German thing) – peeling potatoes with a slipper on your head – signifying life long oppression for the groom to follow.
